Food is Love — Especially When You’re Hungry

I was raised by a 10th generation Southerner, so food has always been important. From taking casseroles to neighbors in time of joy and grief to making special meals for family members, cooking is a natural way to show someone you care. It can also span generations. My grandmother often makes a roast beef hash in the winter months that is made the same way her father taught her to make it. It’s an instant connection between me and the great-grandfather I never knew.
